SHRINE is a New York City art gallery dedicated to showcasing emerging contemporary artists—both trained and self-taught—with a particular emphasis on American art brut and outsider art. Founded by Scott Ogden in 2016, the gallery began in a modest 160-square-foot storefront on Henry Street in the Lower East Side. Ogden, an artist and longtime collector of vernacular and self-taught works, opened SHRINE to create a platform for underrepresented voices in the art world .
Over the years, SHRINE has evolved into a prominent space for discovering unconventional and visionary artists. In 2019, the gallery relocated to a 4,000-square-foot flagship space at 368 Broadway in Tribeca, reflecting its growth and commitment to providing a larger platform for its artists . The gallery’s program includes solo and group exhibitions that highlight the intersections of contemporary and outsider art, often featuring artists who challenge traditional narratives and aesthetics.
Recent exhibitions at SHRINE have included “Revery” by Ava McDonough and “Light Bearer” by Sean Cairns, exemplifying the gallery’s dedication to presenting works that are both innovative and reflective of diverse artistic practices.
