Jacquemus’ inaugural U.S. boutique, aptly named “The New York Boutique,” is nestled in the heart of SoHo. This two-floor, 2,906-square-foot space harmoniously blends a 19th-century brick townhouse with a modern glass-and-metal extension from the early 2000s, unified by an oyster white façade.
Inside, the boutique exudes a minimalist yet inviting ambiance. The flooring, crafted from Bourgogne stone sourced from France, is laid out in patterns reminiscent of old French castles. Curved stair railings and sinuous clothing racks, designed by an Italian artisan, add a playful, Provençal touch. Banana yellow curtains in the fitting rooms provide a vibrant contrast to the neutral tones.
The interior also reflects Simon Porte Jacquemus’ appreciation for art and mid-century design. The boutique features furniture pieces by renowned designers such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Jean Royère, alongside artworks by artists like Joan Miró and Wolfgang Tillmans. Notably, there’s a slipper chair that once belonged to the esteemed French couturière Madeleine Vionnet, further enriching the store’s artistic narrative.
