Gagosian

Gagosian Gallery was founded in 1980 by Larry Gagosian in Los Angeles, quickly establishing itself as a major player in the contemporary art scene. Initially focusing on the works of modern and contemporary artists, Gagosian became known for representing some of the most prominent figures in the art world, including artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Serra, and Robert Rauschenberg.

In the early 1990s, Gagosian expanded to New York City, opening a flagship location in Chelsea in 1995, followed by additional spaces in the Upper East Side and Upper West Side. This expansion marked the gallery’s growing influence in the global art market, becoming a go-to destination for collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts.

With its reputation for exhibiting the highest caliber of art, Gagosian has represented an ever-expanding roster of internationally renowned artists, including Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, and Takashi Murakami, among others. The gallery has also become known for its innovative exhibitions, such as large-scale installations and multimedia works, solidifying its place as one of the most influential galleries in the world.

Today, Gagosian operates not only in New York but in major cities like London, Hong Kong, Paris, and Beverly Hills, continuing to shape the art world with its diverse and ambitious exhibitions.
